Nemaline Myopathy
Nemaline Myopathy is group of congenital neuromuscular disorders that cause muscle weakness, hypoventilation, swallowing dysfunction, and impaired speech ability of varying severity, where severe forms result in a 66% mortality rate before the age of two. It is considered one of the most severe muscle conditions of childhood, with prevalence estimated at 1 in 50,000 live births. The severity of these symptoms varies and can change throughout one’s life to some extent.
